Alarm Sensors Made Simple: Your Guide to Connect-FLX Sensors

5 min read

Your Connect-FLX panel is the brain of your alarm. Sensors are its eyes and ears. This guide explains what each one does, in plain English, so you can choose the right ones for your home or business.

  • No wires: every sensor is wireless.

  • Fitted in minutes: most stick on with the tape supplied.

  • Years of battery life: no mains power needed.

  • Alerts on your phone: wherever you are.

How sensors work

  1. Something happens. A door opens, someone walks past, a pipe leaks or smoke appears.

  2. The sensor notices. It instantly sends a secure wireless signal to your Connect-FLX panel.

  3. You find out. Your phone gets an alert, and if the alarm is set, the siren sounds.

Which sensor do I need?

Start with what you're worried about:

  • Someone opening a door or window → Door & window sensor

  • Someone walking around inside → Pet-friendly motion detector

  • A window being smashed → Glass-break sensor

  • The garage door being forced up → Garage door tilt sensor

  • A shed or gate being opened → Outdoor gate & shed sensor

  • A burst pipe or frozen pipes → Leak & freeze sensor

  • A fire while nobody's home → Smoke & heat alarm

  • Carbon monoxide from a boiler → Carbon monoxide alarm

  • Needing help in an emergency → Panic button

  • Scaring intruders off → Outdoor siren

What does a typical home need?

Here's a sensible starting point for a three-bedroom house:

  • Connect-FLX panel with 7″ touchscreen: £321.98

  • 2 door & window sensors (front and back): £59.44

  • 2 pet-friendly motion detectors (hall and lounge): £82.56

  • 1 leak & freeze sensor (under the sink): £47.88

  • 1 outdoor siren: £181.46

  • 2 key fobs: £46.22

Total: £739.54 inc VAT. You can add more sensors any time; the panel takes up to 96.

Our top tips

  • Doors first. Put a sensor on every outside door. That's where most break-ins start.

  • Motion as backup. One motion detector in the hall catches anyone who gets past a door or window.

  • Think beyond burglars. A leak sensor under the sink can save thousands in water damage, especially in a holiday let.

  • One fob each. Fobs make the alarm easy for everyone, so it actually gets used.

Common questions

Do I need an electrician to fit sensors?

No. The sensors are wireless and battery powered. Most stick on with the tape supplied, and each one comes with a simple guide.

Will my dog or cat set the alarm off?

Choose the pet-friendly motion detector. It's designed to ignore pets up to 38 kg while still spotting a person.

How will I know when a battery needs changing?

Batteries last years, and the system warns you when one is running low.

Can I add more sensors later?

Yes. Start small and add sensors whenever you like. Your panel can take up to 96.

Do the sensors work if the internet goes down?

Yes. Sensors talk directly to your Connect-FLX panel, which has its own 4G connection built in, so alerts still reach your phone.
